the
glacier-carved
hillsides
of
Seneca
Lake,
a
premier
grape
growing
region
of
the
Finger

Wine
Region
of
New

In
1999,
Ted
Marks,
along
with
Phil
Hazlitt,
purchased
the
eighty-four
acre
piece
of
land
that
lies
between
the
eastern
shores
of
Seneca
Lake
and
Route
414
in
Hector.
The
established
vineyards
were
previously
owned
by
Rolling
Vineyards
Winery,
which
was
one
of
the
original
farm
wineries
established
after
the
Farm
Winery
Act
of
1976
Winemaker
Vincent
Aliperti
joined
the
Atwater
staff
in
the
spring
of
2001.
He
was
previously
an
assistant
winemaker
at
both
the
Wolffer
Estate,
Long
Island,
NY
and
Hermann
J.
Wiemer
Vineyard
of
the
Finger
Lakes.
He
uses
his
distinctive
style,
talents
and
knowledge
in
the
production
of
our
quality
wines.
The
Atwater
winery
has
been
modernized
with
the
addition
of
refrigerated
stainless
steel
tanks
and
new
oak
barrels
to
help
establish
the
present
production
of
16,000
gallons
of
wine.
The
Atwater
winery
is
currently
planted
with
60
acres
of
fifteen
varietals,
including
native,
hybrid
and
vinifera
grapes.
We
have
the
potential
to
produce
50,000
gallons
of
Atwater
Wine
and
eagerly
anticipate
our
growth
as
our
winery
progresses.
