Still further south, the Curic� Valley sub-region makes dark, full-fruit wines with plenty of tannin. Maule, which marine influence makes one of the cooler and cloudier areas, still produces large amounts of the historic Pais variety for domestic consumption, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Semillon, and Sauvignon Blanc for export.
